Starting off...

Hey everyone,

After some intense pressure from friends and relatives (well....just relatives) I decided to start keeping a blog of my Chilean Adventures! If anyone has any questions or comments you can email me at Moyer48@gmail.com or text me at moyer48@textfree.us (just type that in the send bar of your phone).

Well I arrived in Chile at 7:50am on Wednesday, January 6th. I didn't sleep well on the flight even with the combined depressants of Ambien and complementary wine (just one glass mom relax!) My Chilean mom Judith greeted me after baggage claim and my adventures began. She is very understanding with my abilities in Spanish, and we have absolutely no problem communicating. Between my six years of Spanish studying and her two English words of "Milk" and "Cheese" we make quite a team. She took me through the city pointing out major roads and landmarks until we reached her apartment. I have a cozy little room with a bunked bed over some closet space for my things.

Judith's nephew, Rodrigo, came over to take me out into the city. He showed me most of the hoppin places in Santiago including; la Plaza de Armas, and la Moneda. Two central places of government and political activity. The streets are FULL of people and wild dogs...the city is very lively. After I bid "adios" with Rodrigo I replenished my depleted sleep bank for a few hours in my new bed. I had a lunch of some kind of "corn-mush" for lack of a better English term and slept a little more until my Chilean brother Francisco returned from work. I hung out with him for a while and we swapped some music and had sandwiches for dinner. A lot of my favorite websites for music don't work outside of the U.S so Francisco saved the day and showed me how to illegally download it! Buen trabajo Francisco...buen trabajo.

We went out into the area known as "Brasil" by the locals that night around 10...popular for night life. Francisco took me to one of the nicest places on the street...we had a few cervesas and some KILLER sushi. I asked him why we didn't go to one of the cheaper places and he told a long story of fights and yelling...I didn't catch every word but at the end when he was talking about his friend he slid his finger across his throat during the sentence....I decided those places could wait until the weekend.
